Sizes, fire doors, hardware and fitting.
Sizes & measuring
Common UK sizes include 1981 × 762 mm and 1981 × 686 mm, and metric sizes such as 2040 × 826 mm are also used. Older homes often have non-standard openings, so we measure each opening and check the frames before anything is ordered.
Fire-rated doors
Fire doors are needed only in certain situations — for example some loft conversions or doors to an integral garage. Where one is required, the door is specified for that opening and fitted with compatible hinges, intumescent seals and hardware. We'll advise after assessing your home.
Hinges
Heavier solid and glazed doors usually need three hinges. Hinge type and finish are chosen to suit the door weight and your handles, and are confirmed in your quotation.
Handles & hardware
Lever or knob handles, latches, privacy locks for bathrooms and door stops can be discussed at survey. You're welcome to choose your own suitable handles.
Fitting
Fitting may include trimming the leaf, hanging, fitting latches and handles, and adjusting or replacing linings and architrave where needed. What's included is listed in your written quotation.
