Outdoor spaces you'll actually use.

Decking, fencing, gates, planters, seating and pergolas — assessed on site, with ground, drainage and planning points checked first.

Garden Joinery

Built for the ground it stands on.

Outdoor joinery has to cope with weather, ground movement and drainage. We look at levels, ground conditions, access and how you want to use the space before recommending materials and construction.

We replaced a rotten timber deck with a new composite deck, rebuilt sub-frame and railings — see the case study below. Larger garden structures such as summerhouses and garden rooms can be discussed, but depend on survey, planning position and whether the scope suits us.

Options

Garden joinery we can discuss.

  • Decking

Timber or composite decking on a suitable sub-frame. Raised decks may need railings and can have planning implications.

  • Fencing

Panel, close-board or slatted fencing. Height limits and boundary ownership should be checked before work starts.

  • Garden & side gates

Gates made or fitted to suit the opening, with hinges and latches chosen for the gate weight.

  • Planters

Raised timber planters sized for your space, with lining and drainage considered.

  • Outdoor seating

Built-in benches and seating, often combined with decking or planters.

  • Pergolas & gazebos

Open timber structures to frame a seating area. Size and position may affect planning, so we'll check.

  • Summerhouses & garden rooms

Considered case by case. Planning, Building Regulations, foundations and services can all apply, and some projects may be outside our scope.

Our Process

How garden joinery works.

  1. Step 01

    Enquiry

Tell us about the garden joinery you have in mind, with photos or measurements if you have them.

  2. Step 02

    Survey & measure

We visit to look at the space, existing surfaces and services, take measurements and talk through options.

  3. Step 03

    Written quotation

Your itemised quotation sets out what is supplied, what is fitted, any preparation and what is excluded.

  4. Step 04

    Agreed start

We agree a start date and how the work will be organised around your home or business.

  5. Step 05

    Installation

The work is carried out to the agreed scope, with any changes discussed and confirmed before they go ahead.

  6. Step 06

    Handover

We walk through the finished work with you, explain any care requirements and leave the area tidy.

Good to know

Planning, structure and conservation.

We'll flag these at survey, but it's worth knowing in advance.

  • Raised decking, tall fences and some garden buildings can need planning permission; you may need to check with the local planning authority.
  • Conservation areas and listed buildings have stricter rules on what can be built.
  • Raised structures must be built to carry their load safely; some may need structural input.
  • Boundary positions and party-wall questions should be resolved before fencing work.
  • Timber needs periodic treatment; composite needs regular cleaning. Product warranties are separate from our 2-year workmanship guarantee on eligible work.
